A dental implant allows for the permanent replacement of a missing tooth or teeth. It is an artificial tooth root made from titanium that is anchored into your jaw bone. The titanium fuses biologically with the living bone to form a strong foundation upon which a crown or bridge can be placed.
Implants are not appropriate for everyone. You need to be in good general health, have healthy gums and your jawbone must be thick enough for the implant. There are, however, some procedures to increase the amount of bone in your jaw. Implants are more likely to be successful if you don't smoke.
Conventional dentures can sometimes be a little loose or ill–fitting, however well they are made. Mini implants take the place of the root of a natural tooth and are used to secure a denture in place. Unlike full implants, fitting them is not dependent on as much bone being available. They are particularly suitable for lower dentures. They can improve your speech and make eating easier.
